October 1998 Newsletter Students and Teachers are well into the academic challenges for the year. Regular classes and all special teachers classes are in full session. Mid-quarter will be here soon. Open House was a huge success. Thanks to all the families who attended. School Band The school band is in its third week of practice. Welcome to the new teacher, Ms. Jodi McLawhorn. Potluck Affair The Parent Potluck Affair held on September 19th was enjoyed by all who attended. If you were unable to come, please watch for future fun family times. Innisbrook Gift Wrap Sale Our Innisbrook Gift Wrap Sale has been in progress for two weeks. Its not too late to get your order in this week. Computers Ten new Compaq computers have just arrived. They are now installed and in operation for all the classes. It is an exciting time for everyone. School Pictures School Pictures were taken on September 29, 1998. The completed photos will be available in about a month. Special Events Family Mass Sunday, October 4th, 8:45 a.m. This will be the beginning of the "Rosaries for Life Crusade" in St. Thomas More Parish and School. Refreshments will be served after Mass in Donlan Hall and sponsored by our School Board and our Home and School Association. We strongly urge all families to attend. This is an excellent way to connect with other school families and find out a little more about the Catholic Church. Sweepstakes Drive This is our annual October fundraiser. Each year we aim to raise $25,000 to support the school. We know everyone will give his or her enthusiasm and support. Roller Skating Party Be there on October 29th at Breakaway Roller Rink. Everyone who sells a Sweepstakes ticket gets a free Roller Skating ticket. Fun! Fun! Fun!
Halloween Party Halloween Party for families on October 31, 1998, 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the school lunchroom. Games, prizes, and fun for everyone! Reminder Parents, we have heard many complaints about cars driving too fast on the playground. Please be careful! Your childs life may be in danger. Drive slowly (5 MPH). Use the correct entrance and exit from 81st Street. Do not drive past the orange cones. Drive slowly on California Avenue. Do not double park. See Parent Handbook page 21. |
