Motown Dance

Thank you to all parents who participated on Saturday, November 28th. A wonderful time was had by all. We hope you will join us for many future social events. It is a great way to get to know other parents and to support the school as well.

Christmas Ornaments

The Wrightwood Community has erected a huge Christmas Tree at Hayes Park (facing 83rd Street). St. Thomas More students have been asked to make outdoor ornaments to decorate the tree. This could be a great project for children to work on over the Thanksgiving break. Suggestion: Use disposable aluminum pie plates or similar food containers and decorate with beads, glitter, tinsel, etc., that is suitable for outdoors. Attach a wire for hanging. Bring the completed ornaments to school as soon as possible in a plastic bag. We will see that they are delivered to be hung on the tree.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Saturday, December 5, 5:30 p.m. at Hayes Park. St. Thomas More students have been invited to sing Christmas carols. We need to have a great turnout to make this community project a success. Hot chocolate will also be served.

Advent

Advent is the season celebrated by the Church during the four weeks preceding Christmas. We are reminded of the 4,000 years that the Jewish people waited for the coming of the Savior of the world. During this holy season the teachers incorporate appropriate activities into their religion lessons to keep the children mindful of the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of Christ. We invite you to join with us in this spirit. The children will attend Mass on December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This feast honors Mary, the mother of God, who was conceived without original sin since she was to be the mother of the Savior. On December 17th, the children will attend their last Mass before the vacation. This special Advent Mass will continue the spirit of waiting and anticipation as we approach the sacred feast of Christmas.

Cold Weather

We remind students to dress warmly and be prepared to wait outside until the 7:55 a.m. bell rings. Parents, please help us to observe this rule. Reminder: Do not drive past the cones and horses on the parking lot.
